PrimeFaces has two different release lines, major releases such as 3.5, 4.0 and 4.1 are considered to be community releases and they are available to public for free under Apache License. ELITE releases are versioned like 3.5.6, 4.0.2, 4.1.5, they provide maintenance along with new features and they are only available to ELITE & PRO users. ELITE subscribers also have access to premium themes and a voting system where 15 votes guarantee that PrimeFaces Team will include the issue fix in next ELITE version. - How much does ELITE cost and for how long?
ELITE subscription is per developer and cost is $249 for one year.
- What does per developer mean? Is it a named license or concurrent?
ELITE license is concurrent or floating in other words. Read more about floating license at here. In summary, ELITE license is a development license that is granted for a developer. It has no runtime bindings like nodes, cpus or servers.
- How do I become an ELITE user?
Steps to upgrade to Elite are as follows;
- Create an account at http://forum.primefaces.org if you haven't already done so.
- Visit http://www.primefaces.org/elite and login with your credentials.
- Click subscribe that will take you to a screen where you define the number of subscriptions and then click check out with paypal.
- Next screen is paypal where you can pay with or without a paypal account, both via credit card. Attached is a sample screen.
- Once the payment is completed, relogin the http://www.primefaces.org/elite and access the service offerings.
- We have 3 developers in your team using PrimeFaces? How many licenses we should get?
You'd need 3 licenses, you can use checkout screen during payment process to change the number of licenses.
- Do I need to have paypal account to pay online?
Depends on the country. If you don't have a paypal account and don't want to create one, just choose pay with credit option if available. Paypal screen should provide two options to proceed, login to paypal and proceed with a credit card without paypal account. In latter case, paypal only acts as the payment processor. If this is not applicable in your country, it is also possible to complete the payment with a bank transfer, please see next question regarding this option.

What is the license of ELITE Releases? Is it different than Apache License?
ELITE versions are licensed under PrimeFaces Commercial License.

No, that is provided by PRO support.

New feature and enhancement requests are not available in core services and provided via an hour based model instead. When you have a feature request we provide an estimate, if you confirm we deliver your request within an estimated timeframe and deduct the amount of work from your hours. These requests can be;

- New functionality to existing components.
- Changing the way a certain functionality is implemented.
- Proof of Concept implementations of a use case.
- Code reviews to offer best practices.
You can purchase additional hours along with the subscription and also anytime during your subscription period. If your subscription term ends with unused hours, they will be added to your new subscription term in case you extend.
PrimeFaces Push - Atmosphere (Optional)
PrimeFaces Push support is excluded in core services as Push framework is powered by Atmosphere. We have a special agreement with Atmosphere team and if you require Push Framework support, it could be provided by Atmosphere Team via PrimeFaces PRO system.
